Area Phillies fans watching the first game of the World Series on Wednesday also got to see what was surely one of the most expensive local-level political ad buys this election season.
U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Bristol) aired an ad during the game, a positive 30-second spot featuring testimonials from a police officer, a small business owner and others.
"In these tough economic times, Patrick Murphy is delivering jobs, tax cuts, and economic development for southeastern Pennsylvania," a narrator says.
Murphy can afford the prime-time spot. He had more than $2.2 million in cash on hand at the recent close of the third quarter, significantly more than his Republican 8th Congressional District opponent Tom Manion.
